Enhancing Energy Efficiency Through High-Efficiency Equipment: Energy-saving Upgrades for Motors and Water Pumps

The knitting and dyeing plant of OTIZ retrofitted the low-efficiency water pumps and motors with wear-resistant ceramic coatings and applied superhydrophobic nano-coatings on impeller surfaces to reduce limescale deposits. This project has significantly extended the lifespan of critical components and curtailed kinetic energy loss.
The retrofit cut the rated power by 11% and the operating power by 23%, yielding a 23% electricity saving rate. These enhancements are projected to conserve 1,010 MWh of electricity and reduce electricity expenditures by NT$3.28 million annually, while averting approximately 578 tCO2e of carbon emissions, which is setting a benchmark of success for green transformation within the industry.
