Helping Nestlé Achieve Carbon Reduction Targets with Precision

At PFEM, climate-related risks and opportunities are regarded as significant references for setting the course of operational strategies. Through engagement efforts with Nestlé, its international brand customer, PFEM clearly recognized an immense emphasis on renewable electricity usage and carbon reduction performance within the supply chain. To translate the awareness into action, PFEM initiated the effort to scale up renewable electricity purchase and integrated diversified renewable energy sources, which have been fully allocated towards the manufacturing processes for Nestlé-related products. Meanwhile, PFEM collaborated with Nestlé on creating an annual renewable electricity purchase model, in which Nestlé finances a portion of the renewable electricity surcharges, giving the partnership stability and sustainability.
By transitioning the energy structure at the production end, PFEM helped Nestlé successfully avert approximately 264 tCO₂e of scope 3 emissions within the year, substantially boosting the carbon reduction performance of the supply chain. On the materials front, the preforms supplied to Nestlé by PFEM are made entirely with 100% rPET, and the manufacturing process is 100% powered by renewable electricity. The ability to deliver sustainable packaging solutions boasting circularity and low carbon footprints made PFEM customers’ crucial partner when implementing climate actions.
This partnership has progressed beyond special projects and become standard operations. Moving forward, PFEM will continue increasing the percentage of renewable energy in its energy mix and explore scalable solutions using sustainable energy and circular materials with Nestlé, striving for an ecosystem of low-carbon packaging with enhanced resilience.
