Providing Uninterrupted Renewable Energy Supply with Concurrent Advancement in Biogas and Solar Power Generation

OPTC believes in persistence when it comes to innovation and low-carbon manufacturing. With an extensive renewable energy supply system established within the plant, the total installed capacity has reached approximately 4,661 kW, including 1,873 kW from a solar power station and 2,788 kW from biogas generators.
While solar energy is generated during the day, biogas power, which is available round-the-clock, kicks in at night, forming an uninterrupted green power supply system running 24/7, thus eliminating the issue of intermittency of renewable energy. The biogas generated from wastewater treatment systems is transformed into fuel for power generation, and all performance data is integrated and analyzed through the energy management system for precision monitoring.
In 2025, the total annual power generation reached 9,850 MWh, with which 5% of OPTC’s externally purchased power could be substituted. This project cut operational costs by NT$38.7 million and significantly reduced carbon emissions by 4,669 tCO₂e.
