It is also a line of poetry that many people, including his late father, Mr. Yu Xiang Hsu, founder of Far Eastern Group, appreciate very much. The phenomenon of fresh water being injected into a pond symbolizes the need to constantly accept new things in order to maintain active and progressive thinking. Since relocating to Taiwan to start a business, Far Eastern Group has continued to thrive and rise, thanks to the continuous influx of fresh water that has enabled it to achieve extraordinary success and maintain a thriving foundation.

        

 

 

        My name has the character 'East', and in this lifetime, I am destined to have a deep connection with Far Eastern Group, especially Far Eastern Textile. Mr. Youxiang, the late father, founded Far Eastern Group Weaving Factory Co., Ltd. in Shanghai in 1945, producing "western-style" underwear. However, due to the critical situation in mainland China, it was decided to relocate to Taiwan and first transport gauze, knitted garments, and machinery equipment to Taiwan via Guangzhou and Hong Kong. In 1949, Far Eastern Group Knitting Factory Co., Ltd. was established in Shenqiu Village, Banqiao.

        In 1971, he returned to Taiwan from the United States to join Far Eastern Textile, and it has been over half a century since then. Adhering to the founding spirit of "sincerity, diligence, simplicity, and prudence", "cultivating industry deeply and sowing public welfare", we continue to increase investment, build Taiwan, overcome various crises and challenges, overcome difficulties, create new prospects, establish ourselves in Taiwan, and go global.

        Most people may think that I am the "second generation of the enterprise" who inherits the family business, but of course, I am grateful for my blessings. I am able to continuously innovate and transform on the solid foundation laid by the founder, carry forward and develop it, create the most diverse industries, make good use of abundant resources and talents, and work together to create today's group map.

        But to be fair, after walking with my father for 30 years, I often feel more like a "negative second generation" or "creative second generation" today, always carrying heavy responsibilities and obligations. Greater Power and Greater Responsibilities, especially in adversity, must constantly innovate and transform, demonstrate resilience, lead the group to break through difficulties and obstacles, and create the future, so as not to disappoint the hard work of nearly 60000 employees, the expectations and support of shareholders and consumers.

        In 2024, Far Eastern Group celebrates its 75th anniversary in Taiwan. Looking back on December 2009, a special issue was published with the theme of "Connecting Lives for a Better Tomorrow" to celebrate its 60th anniversary. In December 2020, we focused on public welfare and published the Far Eastern Group 70th anniversary charity special issue with the theme of "Together for a Promising Future". At this milestone worth celebrating, our mission is to 'Together to Sustain and Prosper', and of course, we also hope to publish a special book to allow readers to better understand and delve into Far Eastern Group's evolving development trajectory, forward-looking layout, and fearless spirit of hard work.

        The book "The Key to Far Eastern Group," which depicts the development process of Far Eastern Group's ten major business development histories, was born as a result. This specialized book was written by senior media person Zhao Aiqing, who spent more than two years interviewing nearly a hundred management teams, supervisors, and colleagues from different generations of the group in depth. With a warm touch and side reporting style, it records and sorts out the development history of Far Eastern Group's ten major businesses, telling the professional managers of various business units under the group how to uphold the founder's entrepreneurial spirit of being happy to work, work together, and walk side by side. Through innovative breakthroughs and transformational changes, the solid foundation of the business is opened up, and together we create a diverse industry. Far Eastern Group.

        Far Eastern Group has a wide range of industries, and its ten major business entities have undergone many exciting processes worth mentioning, such as how the textile and petrochemical industry leads the international market and creates a sustainable future; How Oriental Union Chemical Corporation, which has successfully transformed, is greening and transforming; How to save energy, reduce carbon emissions, and promote westward expansion in the cement and building materials industry; How U-Ming Marine Transport is low-carbon, intelligent, and heading towards the world; How can the retail industry lead the trend, create consumer settlements, and create a better life; How FE SOGO Department stores believe in the rule of law and turn crises into opportunities; How to innovate in technology and move towards the vision of financial control in the financial industry; How Far EasTone Telecommunication is creating a new economy and achieving the triple crown of 5G; How can the group revitalize land and enhance public welfare; How Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection ETC Breaks Through the Bottom and Becomes the Light of Taiwan; Of course, there is also an emphasis on corporate social responsibility and intergenerational public welfare undertakings.

        Through a retrospective and exploration of the origins, it is hoped that this specialized book can leave a relatively complete record of the 75 year business development process of the ten major business entities, allowing all sectors to see Far Eastern Group's long-term efforts to follow the world trend, cooperate with government policies, deeply cultivate industry, revitalize the economy, and benefit society, with hard won fruitful results.

        

 

 

        I remember when my late father, Mr. Youxiang, published his memoir "Walking Through Eighty Years" more than thirty years ago, I wrote a postscript titled "My Father" after the book. At the end of the article, I mentioned my father's advice that when I publish my personal biography, I can share more colorful stories such as management secrets and insights.

        However, this specialized book is not my personal biography, but a chapter jointly written by different generations of Far Easterners. It is a report card we submitted together. Far Eastern Group is still writing its history, and in the future, it will have many business units under its umbrella. We need to plan a more ambitious vision, constantly expand, and grow sustainably. We also shoulder significant social responsibilities and need to continue to work hard.

        I would like to dedicate the book "The Key to Far Eastern Group" to Mr. You Xiang, the founder of Far Eastern Group, as well as the predecessors who laid the foundation and worked hard for Far Eastern Group. I would also like to thank the family members, professional management team, and all Far Eastern employees who have been working hard and persevering in various positions for transformation, innovation, and stability. Thanks to your support, companionship, and dedication, Far Eastern Group has been able to achieve such impressive results, making its businesses leading in various industries and winning countless honors and recognitions at home and abroad.
